How the minimum works
Hourly service reserves a car and chauffeur for you. Every hourly booking has a 3-hour minimum, so a one-hour or two-hour job is billed as 3 hours. Beyond that, the total is the hourly rate multiplied by the hours you book. There is no separate flat fee in the hourly rate math on this page.
So the lowest hourly price is 3 times the rate: $360 for a sedan and $450 for an SUV, and from $525 for an S-Class and from $600 for a Sprinter. If your trip is short and goes from one address to another, a point-to-point transfer is usually the better fit, with floors of $130 for a sedan and $160 for an SUV.
Why car services have minimums
When you book a chauffeur by the hour, that driver and vehicle are set aside for your window and cannot take other work. Short bookings leave little usable time between jobs once travel to the pickup, waiting and positioning are counted. A minimum covers that reserved time and keeps the service reliable for everyone who books.
It also reflects how hourly service is used. Most hourly clients are doing several stops, waiting between meetings, touring or running an event, and those jobs rarely finish in an hour. Booking the right number of hours up front usually costs less than extending on the day and reduces last-minute changes.
What all-in covers on sedan and SUV
On the sedan and SUV hourly rates of $120 and $150, gratuity and fees are included. That is what all-in means here, and the hourly total is simply rate times hours. Tolls, parking and extra stops are quoted on the reservation.
What from means on S-Class and Sprinter
The S-Class rate of $175 and the Sprinter rate of $200 are starting rates. They are not all-in, and we do not describe gratuity or fees as included for these vehicles. The booking form confirms the final price, which can vary with taxes, tolls and availability. The table above shows the starting total for each job length.
Choosing the right number of hours
Add up the time the car will actually be needed: the drive to your first stop, time at each stop, and the drive back. Then add a cushion for New York traffic. If that total falls under three hours, you are paying for the minimum anyway, so use the extra time freely. If it falls between three and four hours, it is worth asking whether a fourth hour avoids a stressful finish.
For events, airport runs with waiting, wedding days and city tours, four to six hours is common. For large groups, compare a Sprinter against several cars. For planning a specific day, see our NYC Marathon race day guide.
